ACCESSIBILITY AND AUDITING

‘Universal design refers to the design and composition of an environment so that it can be accessed, understood and used to the greatest extent by all people regardless of their age, size or disability.’ (Disability Act 2005)

We use an accessibility audit checklist on all projects to ensure our designs comply with the current statutory regulations. The accessibility audit highlights any aspects of the design that may make it difficult for people with physical, sensory or cognitive disabilities, older people and parents with young children to find their way around independently. Once highlighted these aspects are then rectified to ensure universal access best practice principles are met.
