The main concern of the design was to not impose itself on the natural landscape by sitting this single storey building into the hillside. The client was very interested in the latest sustainable methods of design. Geothermal heating and solar panels were included in the project. These proposals, along with aspects of design focused on passive solar energy gain and high levels of insulation, which cut down on its dependence on conventional utility services.
